YOUR STARTING POINT
What happens at a focused first assessment?
A clinician should review your weight history, previous approaches, eating pattern, activity, sleep, mood, medicines, pregnancy plans and weight-related conditions. Measurements and tests should answer a clinical question rather than be sold as the same package to everyone.
Map the history
Discuss when weight changed, what helped, what was difficult, symptoms, schedule and priorities without blame.
Check health and medicines
Review blood pressure, metabolic risk, sleep, relevant symptoms and medicines that can affect weight or treatment choice.
Record a baseline
Agree on useful measurements and laboratory markers so later change can be interpreted fairly.
Fix the first checkpoint
Define the starting plan, what to monitor and the date or condition for review.
